Sofia Androudi, MD, PhD<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Sofia Androudi is an Ophthalmic Surgeon and Professor of Ophthalmology<\/strong>, with a long-standing clinical and academic career in retinal diseases and ocular inflammation. She has worked in a highly specialized international environment through postgraduate training at Harvard University \/ Massachusetts Eye and Ear, supported by a scholarship from Harvard University, in the field of Ocular Immunology and Uveitis.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

She has maintained a private practice in Thessaloniki since 2004, while since 2010 she has also been serving at the University of Thessaly. She is in charge of the Clinic for Inflammatory and Surgical Retinal Diseases at the University Hospital of Larissa, examining patients in the specialized clinic for Surgical Retina and Ocular Inflammation. She performs posterior segment surgeries <\/strong>(retinal detachments, trauma, diabetic retinopathy, macular surgery) on an almost daily basis at the Ophthalmology Clinic of the University Hospital of Larissa, as well as privately at the Interbalkan Medical Center of Thessaloniki and IASO Thessaly<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The physician has an official teaching record spanning 21 years, at the undergraduate level in the subject of Ophthalmology, as well as in the training of residents and medical students in Ophthalmology at the Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary of Harvard University in Boston, USA, at the Ophthalmology Clinic of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, and at the University Ophthalmology Clinic of Larissa. She has also contributed to teaching in official postgraduate programs at the Universi<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

Since September 2023, she has served as Director of the Ophthalmology Clinic at the University Hospital of Larissa. She has participated in the General Assembly and the Curriculum Committee of the University of Thessaly for the academic year 2010\u20132011, and in the General Assembly of the Department of Medicine for the academic years 2023\u20132024 and 2025\u20132026. In addition, she is a member of the Internal Evaluation Group (OMEA) of the University of Thessaly and participates in the Special Oncology Committee of the University General Hospital of Larissa. She has organized conferences of national and international scope, including the International Symposium in Uveitis, held every four years by the International Uveitis Study Group. She is also a registered evaluator in the National Registry of Certified Evaluators of the General Secretariat for Research and Technology (GSRT).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The physician has received awards from the American Academy of Ophthalmology, including the International Ophthalmologist Education Award and the Achievement Award. She has also received the European Society of Ophthalmology distinction (SOE Lecturer) and has served as a member of the Ethics and Regulation in Human Committee and the Global Members Committee of the Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology (ARVO). She is a member of the International Uveitis Study Group and Club Jules Gonin. She has been an invited speaker at the conferences of the American Academy of Ophthalmology and has been selected to participate in the Uveitis Subspecialty Section of the European Society of Retina Specialists (EURETINA). Since 2023, she has served as an examiner for the European Board of Ophthalmology Subspecialty Diploma in Retina (EBO-Retina). She has also received numerous invitations to lecture at international conferences, as mentioned above.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
